latex care guide

Latex tears easily from:

  • Sharp objects like metal and nails
  • Overstretching (don't let someone wear the garment if they are not the correct measurements or hang it from thin straps)

Latex is a natural material that can degrade or stain when in contact with certain metals and oils, do not moisturize body immediately before wearing and avoid prolonged contact with jewelry. Lighter-colored latex stains more easily.

Store latex carefully in plastic bags or on plastic hangers, wash before and after each wear.

To wash, soak latex in water with a drop of latex wash or dish soap for around 5 minutes, rinse and hang/lay to dry. Do not soak garments for extended periods of time or the bond in the glue will weaken. To wash thoroughly, rub garment between hands under water.

Latex can be difficult to put on, so you might opt to use a dressing aide. Some common dressing aides are;

  • Talcum powder- use talcum powder or an oil free baby powder containing talc to keep the matte look, coat the inside and outside lightly
  • Latex dressing aide/shine- a lubricant that will make your latex shine, available on Amazon, use a microfiber cloth or your hands to rub a thin coat on the inside and outside of the garment

Dressing aide is not necessary but makes it easier to take the garment on and off, DO NOT soak the garment in dressing aide and wash after each wear to prevent staining.
